Solo practitioner. Relationship-first. Over a decade of doing this.
A few words about Handled. Handled was built on a simple idea. This work should feel clear, thoughtful, and manageable, not rushed or overwhelming.
A simple idea
Handled was built on a simple idea.
This work should feel clear, thoughtful, and manageable, not rushed or overwhelming.
This is built around relationships
For a lot of people, tax and financial decisions feel uncertain.
Not because they’re not capable, but because they’re expected to figure things out without context or consistent support.
Handled exists to change that.
This isn’t a high-volume firm, and it’s not built around quick transactions.
It’s built around relationships.
- taking the time to understand your situation
- giving guidance that fits, instead of forcing solutions
- recommending the lowest level of support that actually makes sense
- allowing things to grow and change naturally over time
There’s no pressure here, just steady, thoughtful work.
A more steady way to stay supported
Traditionally, most tax work happens once a year, usually after decisions have already been made.
Handled is built to give you another option.
If you want ongoing support, Memberships provide a way to stay connected throughout the year so questions can be handled as they come up.
At the same time, not everyone needs that.
Some clients just need a return prepared or a one-time conversation.
Both are valid.
Aligned with where you are
Every relationship starts with understanding your situation.
From there, I guide you into the level of support that makes the most sense, whether that’s tax preparation, a one-time conversation, or something more ongoing.
You’re not expected to figure that out on your own.
The goal is for this to feel clear and steady, not confusing or overwhelming.
Who I work with
Handled works with:
- individuals and families
- small business owners
- clients navigating change, growth, or complexity
- people who want to understand their options before making decisions
Most importantly, this is for people who value clarity, thoughtful guidance, and a steady working relationship.
“She Didn’t Know What She Was Supposed to Track”
The Situation
A first-year business owner — a freelance designer who had left her corporate job to go out on her own — came to me in October genuinely panicked. She’d been making real money all year. She had no idea what she owed in taxes, had never made an estimated payment, and had been putting everything into one checking account — personal and business completely mixed together. She’d Googled herself into more confusion than clarity.
What Changed
We started with the basics. Separate accounts. A simple system for categorizing income and expenses. A realistic picture of what she actually owed for the year — which was serious but survivable. We made a Q4 estimated payment to reduce penalties, identified every legitimate deduction she’d missed tracking through the year, and built her a simple go-forward plan: what to set aside from every payment, what to track, and when to check in.
The Outcome
Her first full tax year went smoothly. No panic. No surprises. She knew approximately what she owed by October and had been setting it aside all along. She told me that having a steady place to ask ‘dumb questions’ without feeling judged was the thing that changed how she thought about money in her business. There are no dumb questions when you’re building something from scratch.
Hi, I’m Amanda
Owner and Tax Advisor
I’m the founder of Handled Tax & Advisory.
I started in tax work in 2011, learning under a seasoned professional with nearly 50 years of experience. Since 2014, I’ve worked directly with individuals and business owners, helping them navigate their tax responsibilities with accuracy and care.
I operate as a solo practitioner, which means you work directly with me.
No handoffs. No confusion about who to contact.
As both a business owner and a parent, I understand what it’s like to balance a lot at once.
That perspective shapes how I work, realistic timelines, clear communication, and support that actually fits your life.
My faith is an important part of my life, and it shapes how I approach this work.
It shows up in how I care for people, how I think about stewardship, and how I handle the responsibility that comes with this role.
I live in Bentonville, Arkansas with my husband Trevor, our son Elliot, and our ever-growing pack of animals.
We enjoy being outdoors, exploring the Natural State, visiting the farmers market, and winding down with a good movie, or Bluey.
Clarity, not pressure. Steady, relational, grounded in good judgment.
What this practice is, and what it isn’t
Honest disclosure is part of how I work. Here is a clear summary of what I am credentialed to do, and what falls outside the scope of this practice.
- I am a paid tax preparer in good standing with the IRS, holding a current Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).
- I am not a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and I do not hold an active CPA license in any state.
- I am not an Enrolled Agent (EA). I cannot provide formal representation before the IRS in audits, collection due process, or appeals matters that require EA, CPA, or attorney representation.
- I am not currently enrolled in the IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP).
- I do not currently hold professional society memberships (NATP, NAEA, AICPA, or similar).
What this means in practice. I prepare and file accurate federal and state returns, provide tax planning and advisory, and respond to most routine IRS notices on your behalf. For situations that require formal representation, I will refer you to an Enrolled Agent or tax attorney and continue to support the underlying tax work alongside them.
If your situation calls for formal representation, mention it during the intro call and I will connect you with the right professional from the start, so nothing gets handed off mid-engagement.
What shapes the work
Integrity
Straight answers, clean work, and honest pricing.
No urgency. No pressure. If something isn’t the right fit, I’ll say so.
Stewardship
Your numbers are a responsibility.
They’re handled with care, good judgment, and respect for what they represent.
Caring Well
Relationships matter more than transactions.
Support should feel steady, not rushed, and it should grow naturally as your life or business changes.
If this feels like a fit
