How We Work

A clear process, handled with care.

Tax and financial work can feel overwhelming when you do not know what to expect. Our process is designed to keep things clear, steady, and manageable from the beginning.

Whether you prefer a fully digital experience through our secure client portal or a more traditional paper-based approach, we will work in the way that feels most comfortable and practical for you.

The goal is not just to get things done — it is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the process.

What You Can Expect

Working together is meant to feel structured, not stressful.

That means:

  • clear communication
  • an organized process
  • defined next steps
  • support based on the level of work you actually need

Some clients come to us for tax preparation. Others need help working through decisions, ongoing support, or deeper business guidance. No matter where you are starting, the process begins with understanding your situation and making sure the work is handled in the right way.

We Work in a Way That Fits You

Most clients work with us digitally through our secure client portal, TaxDome, which allows for document sharing, communication, organizers, invoices, signatures, and ongoing workflow in one place.

For clients who are comfortable using technology, this creates a simple and efficient experience with everything organized securely.

At the same time, not everyone prefers to work that way — and that is completely okay.

If you are not comfortable with online systems, documents can also be mailed in and handled more traditionally. We are happy to work with clients who prefer a more old-school process, as long as everything needed is provided clearly and securely.

The method may look a little different, but the care and attention to detail stay the same.

1. Initial Contact

Most relationships begin with a conversation, referral, tax return inquiry, or a question about what kind of support is needed. At this stage, the goal is simply to understand what you are looking for and whether tax preparation, advisory, membership support, or a more involved business relationship makes the most sense.

2. Determine the Right Service

Once we understand your situation, we recommend the most appropriate next step.

That may be:
– tax preparation
– a one-time advisory session
– ongoing support through a membership
– a more involved advisory or CFO-level relationship

This helps avoid confusion and ensures you are not trying to sort through services on your own.

3. Onboarding and Setup

If we decide to move forward, we will guide you through the setup process and send what is needed to get started.

For digital clients, this usually happens through TaxDome and may include:
– portal access
– document requests
– questionnaires or organizers
– engagement letters
– invoices
– e-signatures
For clients using a traditional paper-based process, we will communicate clearly about what documents are needed, where to send them, and what to expect next.

The goal is the same either way: a smooth and organized start.

4. Gathering Information

Once your engagement is in place, we begin gathering the information needed to complete the work.

Depending on the service, this may include:
– tax documents
– prior-year returns
– business information
– bookkeeping or financial reports
– notices from the IRS or state
– background context related to your questions or goals

If anything is missing or unclear, we will let you know. You do not need to guess what to send or how to prepare everything perfectly on your own.

5. Review and Preparation

After receiving your information, we review everything in context and begin the actual work.

For tax preparation, this means preparing your return accurately and reviewing anything that needs clarification.

For advisory or membership-related work, this may mean reviewing your situation, identifying questions, preparing for a conversation, or walking through options and next steps.

For business advisory or CFO work, this may include a deeper review of financial movement, structure, decision points, and ongoing needs.

6. Communication and Clarification

If questions come up during the process, we will reach out.

Sometimes that means clarifying a document, asking for something additional, or talking through an item that needs more context.

We want the process to stay clear and steady, not rushed or confusing. Good work often comes from slowing down enough to make sure the details are right.

7. Completion and Next Steps

Once the work is complete, we will guide you through the next step.

That may look like:
– reviewing and signing a tax return
– discussing an advisory recommendation
– setting up ongoing membership support
– continuing into a more involved business engagement

Not every client needs ongoing services, and there is never pressure to move into more than what makes sense. If additional support would be helpful, we will talk through it clearly.

For Tax Preparation Clients

If you are coming in for tax preparation, the process is usually straightforward:

  • you provide documents and background information
  • we review and prepare the return
  • we follow up if anything needs clarification
  • you review and sign when ready
  • the return is filed and confirmed

If we notice something that may need more attention beyond the return itself, we will let you know and explain your options.

For Advisory and Membership Clients

If you are coming in for advisory or ongoing support, the process is a little different.

We begin by understanding your questions, concerns, or goals. From there, we help determine the right level of support and guide you into the appropriate process.

Some clients need a one-time conversation. Others benefit from structured, ongoing support throughout the year. Either way, the process is designed to give you clarity without making things more complicated than they need to be.

For Clients Who Prefer a Traditional Process

Not everyone wants to upload documents, check portals, or manage everything online.

If that is you, we understand.

While many parts of our process are built for secure digital workflow, we can still work with clients who prefer to mail documents and handle things more traditionally.

If you need a more old-school approach, just let us know. We will explain what is needed and how to move through the process clearly.

What We Value in the Process

We believe this work should feel:

  • clear, not confusing
  • steady, not rushed
  • organized, not reactive
  • supportive, not overwhelming

Our goal is to make sure the process itself creates confidence — not more stress.
