How We Work

How We Work

Remote. Direct. One advisor, start to finish.

The Short Version

Every client works with me — not a team, not a rotation of staff. Fully remote, all 50 states. Here's what that looks like in practice.

Let me walk you through this

Clear, steady, manageable

Tax and financial work can feel overwhelming when you don’t know what to expect.

I want this process to feel clear, steady, and manageable from the beginning.

Some clients are fully comfortable working online. Others would rather mail documents, talk by phone, and keep things more old school.

Either way is okay.

The process may look a little different depending on how you prefer to work, but the care and attention stay the same.

What to expect

Structured, not stressful

Working together should feel structured, not stressful.

That means:

  • clear communication
  • organized next steps
  • a process that makes sense
  • support based on what you actually need

Some clients come in for tax preparation.
Some need one-time advisory help.
Others need ongoing support through a Membership, Financial Partnership, or Church Financial Guidance.

No matter where you’re starting, the first step is understanding your situation and making sure you’re moving into the right kind of support.

TaxDome (Digital)

If you like things digital, this is usually the easiest way

Most clients work with me through TaxDome, which is my secure client portal.

That’s where we can keep everything organized in one place, including:

  • document uploads
  • organizers and questionnaires
  • secure messaging
  • invoices
  • engagement letters
  • e-signatures
  • ongoing workflow and communication

For clients who are comfortable online, it keeps the process simple, secure, and easy to follow.

Traditional / Old school

If you prefer the old school way, that’s okay too

Not everyone wants to upload documents, use a portal, or handle everything online.

If that’s you, that is completely fine.

Documents can still be mailed in, paperwork can be handled more traditionally, and we can walk through things by phone as needed.

The main thing is that everything is provided clearly and securely so the work can still be handled well.

The method may look different, but the care is the same.

Process overview

What it looks like to work together

Most clients move through this process in a pretty simple rhythm.

  1. Initial conversation.
Most relationships start with a conversation, a referral, a tax return inquiry, or a question about what kind of help is needed.
At this stage, the goal is simply to understand what’s going on and what kind of support makes the most sense.
  2. Finding the right fit.
Once I understand your situation, I’ll guide you into the right next step.
That may be tax preparation, a one-time advisory session, ongoing support through a Membership, or a more involved business or church relationship.
You do not need to sort through everything on your own first.
  3. Getting set up.
If we decide to move forward, I’ll guide you through setup and let you know exactly what is needed.
For digital clients, that usually happens through TaxDome and may include portal access, document requests, questionnaires or organizers, engagement letters, invoices, and e-signatures.
For clients using a more traditional process, I’ll explain what documents are needed, where to send them, and what happens next.
Either way, the goal is a smooth and organized start.
  4. Gathering information.
Once everything is in place, we gather what’s needed for the work itself.
Depending on the service, that may include tax documents, prior year returns, business information, financial reports, IRS or state notices, and background details related to your questions or goals.
You do not need to guess what to send or try to prepare everything perfectly on your own.
If something is missing or unclear, I’ll let you know.
  5. Review and preparation.
Once I have what I need, I review everything in context and begin the actual work.
For tax preparation, that means preparing the return and reviewing anything that needs clarification.
For advisory or Membership work, that may mean reviewing your situation, preparing for a conversation, or walking through options and next steps.
For Financial Partnerships or Church Financial Guidance, that usually means a deeper review of reports, financial movement, structure, and decision points.
  6. Questions and clarification.
If questions come up along the way, I’ll reach out.
Sometimes that means clarifying a document. Sometimes it means asking for something additional. Sometimes it means slowing down long enough to make sure the details are right.
The goal is not to rush the process.
The goal is to handle it well.
  7. Completion and next steps.
Once the work is complete, I’ll guide you through the next step.
That may look like reviewing and signing a tax return, talking through an advisory recommendation, moving into ongoing Membership support, or continuing into a more involved business or church engagement.
Not every client needs ongoing support, and there is never pressure to move into more than what makes sense.
If additional support would be helpful, we’ll talk through it clearly.
What matters to me in this process

Clear, steady, organized, supportive

I believe this work should feel:

  • clear, not confusing
  • steady, not rushed
  • organized, not reactive
  • supportive, not overwhelming

The process itself should create confidence, not more stress.

Tax prep clients

If you’re coming in for tax preparation

The process is usually pretty straightforward.

You provide your documents and background information.
I review everything, prepare the return, and follow up if anything needs clarification.

Once the return is ready, you review and sign.
Then it’s filed and confirmed.

If I notice something that may need more attention beyond the return itself, I’ll let you know and explain your options.

Advisory and Membership clients

If you’re coming in for advisory or ongoing support

The process looks a little different here.

We start by understanding your questions, concerns, or goals.

From there, I help determine the right level of support and guide you into the right process.

Some clients need a one-time conversation.
Others benefit from more structured, ongoing support throughout the year.

Either way, the goal is clarity without making things more complicated than they need to be.

Traditional clients

If you prefer paper, mail, and phone calls

You are still welcome here.

Not everyone wants to work through a portal or manage everything online.

If you prefer a more traditional process, just let me know.

I’ll explain what is needed, how to send it, and what to expect next so the process still feels clear and manageable.

If you’re ready to get started

We can start with a conversation and go from there.
